OUR LECTURERS

The most important part of each day at TFY Ireland will be the time we spend studying God’s word. We’re really looking forward to these men helping us to dig deeper into the teaching of Scripture.

Jonny McCollum
THE KINGSHIP OF CHRIST

TFY Ireland will begin with lectures on the Kingship of Jesus Christ. You can’t get a more important topic than that! Over the course of the week we’re going to see how this fundamental principle affects everything including how we work, worship, and witness.

Our first speaker will be Jonny McCollum. He has been serving as a minister for 10 years in Letterkenny and Milford congregations. He and Ruth will be at TFY all week as part of the organising committee.

David Fallows
THE CHURCH

David Fallows is the minister of Ballylaggan, having served in Kilraughts and Wishaw before that.

David’s topic is “The Church”. Does the church really matter?  Does it matter how the church is organised?  Is church membership important?  The answer to these questions is an emphatic yes.  The Bible tells us that Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5.25). This should be enough to let us know that the topic of the church matters!

Stephen Steele
Covenant Theology

Stephen is pastor in Stranraer in Scotland and blogs alongside other Reformed Presbyterian pastors from around the world at gentlereformation.com.

Stephen will be helping to guide us through Covenant Theology. Covenant Theology allows us to understand the message of the Bible from the first chapter of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation and to see how all the parts in between fit into the big picture of God’s plan for his church. Understanding this helps us to appreciate God’s wisdom and faithfulness and to cherish our salvation more.

Robert McCollum
The Doctrine of Scripture

One of the biggest aims of TFY is to see how the truths we believe as a church flow from the Bible, but what use is that if we can’t actually trust what the Bible says? In these lectures we will think about the trustworthiness of the word of God as well as principles for how we can understand its message and apply it to our everyday lives.

This session will be led by Robert McCollum, the minister of Lisburn RPC and part of the TFY committee.

Mark Loughridge
The Psalms

In previous years at TFY Ireland we have examined what God’s word has to say about our praise and how the Psalms are the only songs that God has appointed for use in the church’s worship. This year we will spend time considering how we sing these God-given songs: how to delight in them as we see their relationship to our saviour Jesus Christ.

Mark Loughridge, minister of Letterkenny and Milford congregations, will lead us on this tour of the psalter.

Raymond Blair
Covenanter History

Raymond Blair is the minister of Dervock RPC, having served in Galway and Limavady congregations. He is also lecturer in Church History at the Reformed Theological College.

To understand the Covenanter Church in the present day, we need to be informed about the stirring historical record of the men and women who were so committed to “Christ’s Crown and Covenant” that they were even willing to die for their faith. In the first lecture the rise of the Covenanters will be described; in the second lecture the persecution of the Covenanters will be considered.
