OUR LECTURERS

The most important part of each day at TFY Ireland will be the time we spend studying God’s word. We’re really looking forward to these experienced pastors helping us to dig deeper into the teaching of Scripture. Over the next few weeks we’ll be telling you a little bit more about the subjects we’ll be studying and who will be lecturing. Check back here for updates!

DAVID MCCULLOUGH
THE KINGSHIP OF CHRIST

TFY Ireland will begin with lectures on the Kingship of Jesus Christ. You can’t get a more important topic than that! Over the course of the week we’re going to see how this fundamental principle affects everything including how we work, worship, and witness.

Our first speaker will be David McCullough. He has been serving as a minister for 25 years in Faughan, Dromore and Woodstock Road congregations. He is married to Heather and has 5 children.

PHILIP MOFFETT
THE CHURCH

Philip Moffett is our second lecturer of the week. He is married to Laura and they have one infant son, James.  Philip has been minister in the Cullybackey congregation for 10 years.  He enjoys rugby, reading, coffee and spending time with his family.

Philip’s topic is “The Church”. Does the church really matter?  Does it matter how the church is organised?  Is church membership important?  The answer to these questions is an emphatic yes.  The Bible tells us that Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5.25). This should be enough to let us know that the topic of the church matters!

DAVID Sutherland
Covenant Theology

David Sutherland has been a pastor for over 20 years in Ballyclare and Ballylaggan congregations. He and his wife Ruth have 4 children. He enjoys running and reading and will make our Scottish attendees feel at home!

David will be helping to guide us through Covenant Theology. Covenant Theology allows us to understand the message of the Bible from the first chapter of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation and to see how all the parts in between fit into the big picture of God’s plan for his church. Understanding this helps us to appreciate God’s wisdom and faithfulness and to cherish our salvation more.

Warren Peel
WORSHIP

Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, and we believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the only infallible rule that God has given to teach us how we’re meant to do that. So on Wednesday we’re going to take a deeper look at what the Bible teaches us about how we should worship God, and especially on how that affects our praise in worship.

This session will be led by Warren Peel. Warren has been a minister in the RPC since 2001, first in Ballyclabber RPC and then, since 2012, in Trinity RPC. He also teaches New Testament and Greek at the Reformed Theological College. He and Ruth have been married for 20 years and have 4 daughters.

Mark Loughridge
Worldview & Apologetics

Mark Loughridge is married to Judith, and has three daughters. He loves open water swimming, good coffee, good design and good books. He gets excited about teaching God’s word, engaging with the world around us, and planting churches in Ireland. He is one of the ministers in Milford and Letterkenny RP churches.

Mark will be lecturing on Worldview and Apologetics. It is important that Christians are able to wisely discern the trends they encounter as well as the presuppositions that lie behind those trends. These lectures will help us to see how the worldview presented in Scripture is better and more consistent than what the world has to offer as well as equipping us to give an answer for the hope that is within us.

Raymond Blair
Covenanter History

Raymond Blair is a native of County Donegal, married to Carole and has four daughters, graduate in History from Trinity College Dublin, Vice-President of the County Donegal Historical Society, was active in church planting in Galway for 21 years, now pastor of Limavady Reformed Presbyterian Church, Lecturer in Church History at the Reformed Theological College, author of The Best of Frances Browne, a supporter of Everton Football club, and loves salt and vinegar crisps!!
To understand the Covenanter Church in the present day, we need to be informed about the stirring historical record of the men and women who were so committed to “Christ’s Crown and Covenant” that they were even willing to die for their faith. In the first lecture the rise of the Covenanters will be described; in the second lecture the persecution of the Covenanters will be considered.
